Strep throat is basically an infection caused by a bacteria called Streptococcus pyogenes, and is not a side effect of performing oral sex. The inflamed tissue in your throat may have been further irritated by the act, but you would have gone through the fever/chills phase regardless. I’ve had strep throat many times… It is contagious, but not an STD.

probably you already were coming down with strep throat since your throat hurt - it just got worse.

No it is not an STD…you were probably already coming down with strep when you performed the oral sex. He also will not get strep from you unless you kissed afterwards.
