Tight, wet clothing against bare skin is slightly more likely to promote bacterial or fungal infections than pubic hair, because pubic hair will actually dry. Clothing is also more likely to cause chaffing and irritation. The most important thing is to keep the area clean and dry and to wear comfortable clothing. It doesn’t matter how you style it.

With or without hair, your average butt floss underwear is what will give you the worst infection from just walking around.

It is perfectly fine to shave, but if I was you I would use nair or some other brand that is just for bikini areas. This will help to not have the razor rash you get from shaving. Shaving or using hair remover products like nair keeps your ***** from sweating as much and easier to keep clean.

Razor burn sucks and if you cut yourself you could get an infection.. That’s kind of unhealthy.
I think hair is a bacteria trap but apparently it’s there to keep it out. So, whatever.
It really doesn’t have an effect as long as your hygenic.

Hair doesn’t do a thing for your immune system and actually traps sweat, heat and odor, fostering bacteria growth. If you like it better shaved, power to you! It won’t do a thing for your health to the positive or negative.

And unlike what some idiot said about hair protecting against bacteria, the less exposed “it” is to trapped moisture, the less the risk of a yeast infection. There is nothing wrong with shaving it.

Wrong answers. Hair is meant for protection….including the pubic region. It DOES have a purpose, and I know that one OB/GYN specifically said she didn’t think it was wise to shave it all of because you put yourself at risk of more infections, though trimming/shaving around it was ok. Does that mean if you shave it all off that you will be infected with something? Of course not. You will probably be fine. But the RIGHT answer is that it helps protect you from foreign invaders.

I’m a little surprised at the “nurse” who answered first - she should know better.
